 | Maker: Jones George Pattern:Abbey Bowl or Nappie c1912 This is shape AB48 in the George Jones catalogue, where several nappies in sizes are listed and the largest is 13ins diameter. This example at 14.5ins diameter is significantly larger and these bowls are rare in this size. The bowls are decorated on the inside only and the quality of the print is excellent, in a good bold blue. There are two areas of restoration on the outside, one of a rim chip and the other of a hairline that runs down from the rim. This hairline is visible on the face, once you know it is there. The glaze is lightly crazed, but overall the condition is good and it looks fine on display, either flat or standing.

 | Maker: Jones George Pattern:Abbey Fruit Dish c1920s These square dishes are found only rarely. In the Jones 1924 catalogue it is item AB5 Fruit Dish Square available in two sizes. This is the smaller one.
A few minor glaze blemishes occurring during manufacture. The glaze is crazed, but bright and the slightly pearly glaze gives added softness to the design.
Blue printed back stamp Abbey 1790 in the cartouche with England beneath. Impressed registerd number for the shape is unclear, possibly 730214 suggesting 1927? Dimensions: 19 cm across 6 cm deep / 7.5 ins across 2.25 ins deep

This example at 14.5ins diameter is significantly larger! Decorated on the inside only, the quality of the print is excellent, in a good bold blue. Blue printed early backstamp Abbey 1790 in the cartouche, impressed crescent mark and impressed date mark for 1915.
A little very light crazing and some minor wear to the rim otherwise excellent.
