An absolutely gorgeous soup tureen complete with cover and stand. The tureen and cover have really attractive handles and ornate moulded relief. The stand has lovely shell like moulding each side with just a little light crazing to the face.It bears the impressed date mark for December 1898. A truly lovely piece.

A delightful sauce tureen complete with cover and stand. The stand has the impressed date for September 1904. It has pretty shell like side handles and measures 9.25 ins x 6.75 ins. The tureen and cover have lovely moulded handles and moulded decoration to the body. A little minor wear to the rim of the tureen not noticeable when cover in situ'and a little light crazing with associated staining inside

Vegetable Dish Base c1900
Made by Ridgways of Bedford Works, Hanley, Staffordshire. An attractive dish which would originally have had a lid but a lovely piece on its own. Backstamp: Ridgways Stoke on Trent Dado No 20250 Rd No 688, registered in 1885 and 1884 respectively. Impressed date code for 1900. Underneath there is a little minor wear to the foot, inside to the base there a little surface scratching and elsewhere a little blue smudging otherwise excellent condition.

Made by Ridgways of Bedford Works, Hanley, Staffordshire. A dramatic ewer in the realistic aesthetic style, decorated with rose hips and hawthorn. On one side is a vignette of a country scene with a man in a boat on a river. There is a star craze in the glaze on the bottom, but it is in really lovely condition. Blue printed backstamp of bow and quiver with Ridgways, Stoke on Trent. Registered numbers 688 for 1884 and 20250 for 1885. Impressed date mark for 1890.

Vases Pair c1910
A really unusual pair of identical vases with a different Dutch scene either side of the body. There is wonderful ornate decoration either side of the neck. With gilt but this has worn a little over the years. A touch of crazing to one vase and all over crazing to the other. Blue printed backstamp with pattern number 3374 in script. These would be great for a narrow shelf or window ledge as they are quite narrow.

To the outer rim and on the back there is some wear and also on the back a possible small hairline but this does not go through to the front. Sounds awful - looks lovely!

Very pretty little dish with serrated rim and veined on the underside to resemble a leaf. No backstamp. Light all over crazing with a little light discolouration. Also two small chips and a small hairline to the rim.

Ewer c1830
This is an absolutely superb very large ewer, although it has had something of a life! No backstamp but we have attributed this to Ridgway. It has restoration and a hairline to the spout and a hairline to the rim has also been restored. There is a small hairline to the top of the handle and another to the base which has been restored. It is crazed with associated discolouration although this is mainly inside and there is some wear to the rim and handle and the handle also has a small firing fault. If you are still reading this and have not been totally put of a fabulous piece I will say that the body is still bright and clean and the sheer size and beauty of the pattern make this a piece to be desired.

Made by John & William Ridgway. The scene depicts Chios the main town and administrative centre of the Greek island also called Chios, the fifth largest of the Greek islands. The pattern was taken from an engraving in the book New System of Geography by Thomas Bankes and others, published about 1790. No backstamp. Crazed with a little discolouration which is mainly on the back. There is some wear with a little loss of glaze to the outer rim and a firing fault on the back which runs along the inner rim.

Made by William Ridgway & Co of Shelton & Hanley, Staffordshire. An intricate pattern, with a bird set amongst foliage in the vignettes and floral swirls set amongst everything else! Backstamp: blue printed anchor and urn with WR&Co beneath and the pattern name in a ribbon beneath that. The glaze is finely crazed, with the odd touch of discolouration on the back, but the face is clean and bright. Overall a lovely plate.

Fabulous soup tureen with ladle. The tureen stands on four very decorative feet and has ornate side handles and ornate handle to the cover.The ladle is beautifully patterned inside the bowl and along the line of the ornate stem. Backstamp: Flosculous W R & Co. Inside the tureen there are a few minor manufacturing blemishes, the lid has a very small chip under the rim and the ladle has light crazing. Overall excellent condition and a stunning set.

This condiment set comprises of a pepper pot and an open salt. Both pieces have crazing and the pepper is lacking its stopper. Neverthe less the gilt is intact and a lovely set. Salt has a 2.5 ins diameter, and 1.75 ins high

Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1885
Generous sized rectangular meat platter with rounded corners, printed in a dark blue with Ridgways well-known Hawthornden pattern, with the added decorative feature of the tree and well to drain the juices. Blue printed backstamp: Ridgways and bow and quiver, plus pattern name in banner. Diamond registration mark for 15 April 1880. Impressed date code for October 1880 or 1890. The glaze is finely crazed and there is an indistinct hairline running in from the rim at 1 o'clock for about 4cm, otherwise in good shape.

With gilt rims. A lovely set. The saucer has blue printed backstamp: RSR and impressed Staffordshire Knot with initials R S R within, for Ridgway, Sparkes & Ridgway active 1873-79. The two handled cup has light crazing with just a little associated staining inside. The cover also has light crazing and a gorgeous acorn finial surrounded by embossed leaves highlighted with gilt and in script the pattern number 7583.

Teapot and Stand c1911
With gilt. This the full size not miniature style of this pattern. A fabulous teapot and stand with same scene either side of the body of the pot with Little Nell in the churchyard and ornate moulded detail to the spout and handle. All printed in a slightly steely blue. Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Charles Dickens' stories. They are taken from magazine illustrations in a magazine where Dickens' stories were first published. Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes and later a miniature toy range. Backstamp: Ridgways W R & Co Humphrey's Clock England on pot plus From Chas Dickens Old Curiosity Shop and impressed date for 1911 on stand. The lid and stand have light crazing and the gilt on the stand is worn, overall excellent condition

A fabulous small platter, printed in a lovely soft blue with beaded decoration to the rim. Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Charles Dickens' stories, taken from the illustrations in a magazine, in which Dickens' stories were first published. Bowl with Foot c1845
Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Charles Dickens' stories. They are taken from the illustrations in the magazine, in which Dickens' stories were first published, and Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes. This footed bowl would have had a cover but is a lovely piece on its own. It has superbly ornate moulded side handles and stands on a round decorated foot. There is a small hairline in the curve of the bowl, a little discolouration to the handles and under the foot a very small chip. Overall a delightful piece. No backstamp.

Backstamp: Humphrey's Clock W R & Co. Light all over crazing with a little discolouration although this is mainly to the outer rim and on the back and there is a little loss of glaze and discolouration to the stilt marks inside. Sounds much worse than it looks, this is a delightful piece.

Pap Boat c1840
Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Dicken's stories. They are taken from the illustrations in the magazine, in which Dicken's stories were first published, and Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes. Pap boats were used to feed pap to invalids or infants. Pap was made from flour or bread boiled in water and apparently an egg, dash of beer, rum or brandy might be added to provide extra sustenance! These idiosyncratic survivors of another age have become strongly collected today. No backstamp. A few minor signs of age, overall excellent condition.

Spittoon small c1845
Two part small spittoon with removable funnel. Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Dickens' stories. They are taken from the illustrations in the magazine, in which Dickens' stories were first published, and Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes. Backstamp: Humphrey's Clock. Underneath there is a very small chip and a little wear. There is a little wear around the rim and to the handle and a little excess clay to the top of the handle. The funnel has light all over crazing with a small minor hairline and is very worn around the rim. Overall a delightful piece.
