Lovely two handled vase with ochre rim. The full size not miniature style of this pattern. Same scene either side of the vase with Little Nell in the churchyard. John and William Ridgway. This is absolutely stunning! A large lidded tureen on a stand. The tureen has fabulous floral embossed detail to the finial to the lid and side handles.

The stand has a small chip and tiny hairline under the rim. The tureen has a little discolouration inside and just a touch to the handles. The lid has a couple of minor manufacturing blemishes and underneath and to the finial a little minor discolouration. All sounds far worse than it looks, this is a fabulous set.

By John & William Ridgway of Hanley active 1814 to 1830. The Ridgway brothers had a liking for pattern names that began India, rather than Indian. Their India Vase is an unusual, slightly surrealistic design, with a large urn type vase with flowers and two large exotic birds, all set against a background of flowing river and falls, with extensive ruin and hills beyond. It is printed in a vibrant blue with the clever use of dark and light tones to give a great sense of perspective.
Blue printed leaf cartouche, containing the words India Vase and Opaque China.
A few signs of age and use, with a small area of fine crazing to the glaze, but this is in extraordinarily good condition. Shines like new. Magnificant in size and appearance.

Drainer c1845
By John Ridgway of Cauldon Works, Shelton, Hanley. Other pieces in this pattern are recorded with a diamond registration mark for 4 December 1845 registered in the name of John Ridgway for 3 shapes of dinnerware.
Small chinoiserie vignettes surround a central floral pattern in hues of teracotta. The drainer stands on four small feet.
No backstamp, but pattern number in ochre script 6 over 29 and Ridgway was one of the few factories to get to a 6 series of patterns.
Crazed with some discolouration which is minor on the front and heavier on the back. There is a little damage around some of the holes and a couple of very small minor chips to the rim. Overall a lovely drainer.

A really pretty dish from a dessert service. Square with a wavy rim and extremely pretty moulded side handles in the shape of flowers and leaves. The stilt marks have discoloured a little and one of the side handles has a couple of firing faults making the flower slightly less defined. On the back there is a chip under one of the handles and general wear around the rim and the foot. As usual sounds much worse than it looks. This is a really lovely piece.
No makers marks but definitely Ridgway.

The base is crazed with some discolouration inside, the rim is worn with some pitting, small chips and loss of glaze, also has a couple of small hairlines and underneath some chips. The lid has light crazing and a chip to the inner rim. Ouch, this sounds awful, but looks delightful!
