Plate c1994 Limited Edition
This small plate in a presentation box is decorated with Spode's Love Chase pattern, which depicts the Greek myth of Atalanta and Melanion. Briefly, this involved a race between Atalanta, a beautiful female athlete and Melanion, who managed to win the race by subterfuge using 3 golden apples supplied by Aphrodite. The characters are shown in motion, with Aphrodite keeping a watchful eye and the central cartouche depicts symbols of love. Love Chase was introduced in 1810. This plate, is already a rarity and an antique of the future, having been made at the historic Spode factory, which has now closed.
Printed in blue on the back is "Printed from an early Spode engraving of 'The Love Chase' in a limited edition of 500 to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the foundation of ‘The Friends of Blue’ 1973-1994 Spode England."
The Friends of Blue are the UK based Society with a world-wide membership, all of whom have a dedicated interest in transfer-printed pottery from the 19th Century.
This plate is brand new, first quality china and guaranteed to be one of the original 500 limited edition. Previously only available to Friends of Blue members.

Teapot Stand c1890
An absolute delight in china printed in a mid blue with an attractive softness plus gilt line decoration to inner and outer rim. This is worn on the outer rim. The printed back stamp is No 235 in Spode and Copeland Marks by Robert Copeland and in use about 1850 to 1890. There is an impressed date mark for August 1881. The pattern number is 1 1765, which was introduced in 1893. We have settled for c1890. A decorative item.
