Coffee Cup and Saucer c1840
Delightful small cup and saucer in this fabulous pattern. Backstamp: Copeland & Garrett Late Spode on Saucer and Spode on cup. The saucer has a little wear and underneath a star hairline which does not go through. The cup has some wear to the rim and inside a couple of very minor tiny blemishes. None of these faults detract from this gorgeous set!

Knife Rests c1820
A very pretty pair of knife rests. We believe this to be Milkmaid pattern however Spode Tower pattern has the same border, so these could possibly be Tower. One rest has some wear around the rim with a tiny tiny chip and is generally a little nibbled but this is noticeable mainly from underneath. The other rest is a slightly different shade of blue. This again is a little nibbled and has two small chips to the rim. Both have some wear on top so clearly have seen active service. Overall a lovely pair of knife rests. Both have printed backstamp of SPODE

Meat Dish or Platter small c1820
Spode introduced their Net pattern about 1800 and it was copied by the Herculaneum factory in Liverpool. Marked items are rare in this pattern so we have attributed this to Spode. No backstamp. On the back there is some wear with just a little discolouration.

Dish with Cover divided c1815
This is a really unusual dish, with the base having a central divide with pattern. The base is white on the outside with pattern on the rim and inside. It is crazed with some light associated discolouration and a little minor wear around the outer rim. The cover is beautifully patterned all over and has a wonderful central scroll finial. It also has crazing to the glaze and there is a hairline to the rim. In spite of the crazing it still has a wonderful shine to it. Impressed Spode

Dessert Dish c1820
Devonia shape dessert dish No backstamp but we have attributed this to Spode. Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC 649. To the rim there are a couple of rough unglazed areas where it touched another in the kiln. Also to the rim there is a small horizontal hairline and a little discolouration. Underneath there is some wear and discolouration to the foot. Sounds awful, looks lovely!

Dish Devonia Dessert c1820
Devonia style dish from the dessert service. No backstamp. There are two tiny chips and small rubs to the angular points around the rimm underneath a little minor wear and elsewhere a few minor manufacturing blemishes.

Comport c1820
Spode introduced their Net pattern about 1800 and it was copied by the Herculaneum factory in Liverpool. Marked items are rare in this pattern and this comport has been attributed to Spode from the details of the design and the shape of the piece. This beautifully shaped footed comport would have originally formed part of an extensive dessert service. It is decorated both inside and out and there is delightful floral decoration to the splay foot. In lovely condition, bright and clean and the glaze is sound. There is a small chip under the foot rim, which is virtually hidden from view. Superb display item of good proportions.

Spode's Net pattern was introduced about 1810 and this plate is in superb condition, almost like new. It would be difficult to find a better one. Impressed backstamp Spode.

Dish Root c1820
Spode were not the only makers of Net pattern, but this dish is attributed to them on the basis of its shape. These dishes occur as root or sometimes radish dishes in early records and it has also been suggested that they may have been used for asparagus. No maker's backstamp, which is usual for Net pattern. Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC 351. Glaze is sound. There are small chips under three of the corners of the handles and a few signs of wear, but excellent condition overall.

New Bridge or Queen Charlotte pattern, here pattern number 1/3822. The original Bridge pattern was derived from a Chinese original and introduced about 1808. Much later in 1884 the pattern was re-engraved and renamed New Bridge. This platter is printed in a deep blue with gilt rim. Backstamp: green printed C seal backstamp, with Spode Copeland England and Manufacturers Stoke on Trent a relatively rare backstamp. Also blue printed "Queen Charlotte Pattern on Spode Stone Body. Purchased by Her Majesty at the Works on July 3rd 1817." According to Robert Copeland The Times reported a visit to Spode's London showroom on that day and that Her Majesty ordered some of the "newly invented china, called stone china, by Mr Spode...", but no evidence has been found to identify the pattern or that the china was indeed delivered before she died in 1818. Some wear to the gilt, few signs of use, but overall excellent condition.

Cheese Stand c1850

Muffin Dish c1880
Very pretty stone china muffin dish with gilt finial and gilt highlights to the pattern. Backstamp: Copeland Late Spode and in script 2117. There is a little wear to the rim of the base and under the rim of the cover. Also to the cover is the occasional very minor blemish and underneath tiny pin pricks in the glaze. Overall a very attractive dish.

Sauce Tureen c1820
Beautiful open sauce tureen with stand. Pattern number 2635 was introduced in 1818 and is the blue printed border used on Italian pattern with hand painted red and gold enamel decoration and a hand painted floral design centre. Both pieces are in lovely condition, with just a tiny chip right under the foot rim of the stand. Impressed SPODE 39 on both plus blue printed Spode on tureen, which would date these pieces to about 1818-1820. Stand 8.25 ins x 5.75 ins

With gilt. Gorgeous bowl with full pattern around the outside and border pattern around the inside rim. Backstamp: Copeland and in script 6958. Underneath there is a little minor wear, inside a little very minor surface scratching and there is just a little wear to the gilt overall excellent condition and a beautiful bowl.

Plate c1844
Made during the Copeland & Garrett period, this plate has a flow blue printed floral and foliage design, with hand enamelled colour decoration and gilt highlights and a yellow faux gold rim. A bold and striking colourway. The border is a popular Spode design known as Ship border. Backstamp: green printed crown and wreath cartouche with Copeland and Garrett and 7049 in script. The glaze is sound, a little wear to the enamelling and a couple of possible nicks on the rim, which may have been part of manufacture or touched in later, difficult to tell. Overall lovely condition.

Meat Dish or Platter c1850
Blue printed floral design with added enamel colour painted by hand. Pattern number 7790 was introduced in 1848. Green printed backstamp Copeland Late Spode and impressed crown. Taking everything together suggests a date of manufacture of about 1850. There are a few tiny firing cracks and the glaze is finely crazed, but overall this platter is brigth and clean. On display it looks magnificent.

Jug or Pitcher Mask c1880
An absolutely fabulous jug with the spout formed as the face of a bearded man. There is no maker's backstamp, but we have attributed this to Copeland Spode as because as a jug shape this appears to be unique to them. The pattern number 790 was introduced in 1806, but we believe this jug to be a much later example. Backstamp: In script 790. to the handle there is some wear and discolouration and inside a vertical firing fault. Elsewhere there are signs of wear with a little discolouration to the foot. Sounds much worse than it actually looks, this is a super piece.

Charger c1840
This is a fabulous large flow blue charger with a luscious design, pattern number B772, which was introduced about 1839 and appears never to have been given a name. Introduced during the Copeland & Garrett period, it remained in production during the W T Copeland era. Backstamp: Green printed Copeland and Garrett. There are a few minor glazing blemishes otherwise this is in superb condition.
