Plate pierced rim Fishermans Tale c1815
This is the Fisherman's Tale from the Gothic Ruins series. This is an absolutely gorgeous plate in superb condition. It has a pierced and basket weave rim surrounding the central scene which is printed in a lovely soft blue. The condition of this plate is unbelievable given its age. There is barely a scratch to the surface and the pierced rim is not only intact but hardly shows any signs of its age.
Impressed Davenport in lower case.

Soup Plate c1820
By Robert Hamilton of Stoke active 1811 to 1826. This well-known pattern is printed in a luscious soft blue with a deep pearly glaze. It looks beautiful on display.
Impressed backstamp HAMILTON with STOKE beneath.
A rim chip, which was almost entirely behind the rim, has been rather clumsily repaired and it now looks like a glazing fault! That is almost entirely on the back though. There is a small nick on the rim at 8 o'clock. Otherwise excellent condition and the glaze is sound.

This Chinoisierie design packs so much into a small area! There is a fisherman in a boat, a large jar containing what appear to be weapons, an ornate bridge with man and parasol crossing. Trees, plants and river galore. An absolute delight.
Backstamp: no maker's backstamp, although this pattern has been found marked for Leeds Pottery and attributed to Don Pottery also.
Crazed with some discolouration although this is mainly on the back. Overall a fine example of this pattern.

This design was an early Minton introduction and has similarities with Caughley's Fisherman pattern.
No maker's backstamp, only blue printed star, plus a dot on the rim.
There is a restored rim chip at 2.30pm and the glaze is crazed, with just a hint of associated staining here and there. Actually looks brighter and more attractive than the words suggest!

Delightful version of this pattern set in an English rural scene rather than the oriental setting usually seen and printed in a steely blue.The pattern continues around the jug with no repeats and no break in the transfer. There are a few "nibbles" around the spout, a small rim chip and a small glazing fault to the body. Otherwise superb - this is a lovely jug.

Dessert Comport c1830
Fishermen with Nets is a pattern most often assciated with Robert Hamilton, however there are also distinctly English and extremely Eastern versions, as well as the version here, which whilst broadly similar to Hamilton has a number of differences. The most striking thing about this comport is that it has been hand-painted over the glaze. At first sight we wondered if it had been done after manufacture, however, further research turned up a complete dessert service decorated in this fashion, so rare, but not unique!
No maker's backstamp and only a blue printed 5 workman's mark.
The glaze is finely crazed and there is a short hairline on one side, that gets lost in the pattern, and a little minor wear to the rim, otherwise in excellent condition. Ideal if you like your blue and white to be colourful.
