Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern: Classical Ruins

The pattern depicts a goatherd leading his goat past the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, Rome, which is another name for this pattern, as is simply Goatherd.
Marked examples are known by Thomas Lakin of Stoke, but the goat is to the right of the man. Examples marked for John Dawson of Sunderland are also known and the goat is to the left of the man as here. There are believed to be two other, as yet unidentified, potters, who also used this design.
No maker's backstamp.
