Maker: Riley  Pattern: Girl Musician

Made by John & Richard Riley of Nile Street and Hill Works, Burslem active 1796-1828. This charming country scene was derived in part from a Claude painting entitled Landscape with Shepherds. Riley's design is sometimes called Girl Piping. No maker's backstamp, but this is a shape of plate used by Riley. There is a little minor wear to the rim, but overall this is in superb condition. The glaze is sound and this is a really clean example
