Maker: Woods Pattern: Bird
By Enoch Wood & Sons of Burslem, active 1818 to 1846, usually known as Bird pattern. Lovely rural scene around the teabowl with two birds on branches to the fore. Border pattern around the inside of the bowl and small bird on branch inside to the base. Part of the same rural scene to the saucer with a bird on a branch eyeing a bee in the air.
No maker's backstamp, but marked examples by Wood are known.
Fine crazing to the glaze on both pieces and minor chipping to the inside of the foot rim of the bowl. Otherwise lovely condition.
Dimensions: Bowl 8.5 cm diameter 5 cm high Saucer 13.5 cm / Bowl 3.25 ins diameter 2 ins high Saucer 5.25 in
