Maker: Davenport  Pattern: British Scenery

A bold ewer, originally part of a toilet set, in near perfect condition. The potting is quite chunky, but good lines and proportions. The pattern is well printed in a true blue, rather than the steely shade sometimes seen, and the same scene appears both sides. Both inside and outside the neck is the border design of heads of corn and grape vines.
There is a minor rub to the glaze on the neck rim, a small chip under the foot rim and there has been a slight knock to the foot rim, otherwise it is as bright and clean as the day it made. A stunning display piece.
Blue printed backstamp British Scenery over Davenport, impressed Wm Davenport, Longport and impressed date mark for June 1881.
