Maker: Meigh Pattern: Amphitrite white
Made by Charles Meigh & Son of Hanley. This handsome relief-moulded jug is white stoneware and the design depicts the goddess Amphitrite. For a similar jug see page 177 of British Jugs by R K Henrywood.
Some minor age discolouration to the stoneware, but otherwise in excellent condtion.
Moulded registration diamond for 13 June 1856 with C Meigh & Son. Impressed size number 34 and also 18. Britannia-metal lid is marked A Broadhead & Co.
