Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern: Pinwheels
Minton, the Cambrian Pottery, Swansea and Thomas Harley produced this design and there may have been others. This platter is not Minton or Cambrian Pottery, so we have played safe and left it unattributed, although it clearly came from the hands of a potter of quality. The pattern is known as Pinwheels as some of the medallions resemble Catherine Wheel fireworks, known as Pinwheels in the USA.
No maker's backstamp.
Lovely bright white body and glaze, which is sound. Some utensil scratching to the face, a few rubs to the rim and a small rim chip on the back, not affecting the face. Overall an attractive early platter.
Dimensions: 37 x 28 cm / 14.5 x 11 ins
