Maker: Adams Pattern: Native
Made by William Adams of Stoke, active 1804-1829. Native is a delightful rural scene with two ladies standing by their horses, while a man kneeling offers them fish, recently caught in the river behind. The scene is believed to depict Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby known as The Ladies of Llangollen who lived together in north Wales from 1790 to 1831.
This pattern was made later by Pratts and subsequently by Cauldon.
Impressed backstamp ADAMS.
Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC E24.
Apart from a few utensil scratches and rubbing to the rim this plate is immaculate.
Dimensions: 25.5 cm / 10 ins
