Maker: Hicks Meigh and Johnson Pattern: Oriental Shells
Hicks, Meigh and Johnson of High Street, Shelton, Staffordshire, were in business from 1822 to 1835. Interesting design with floral swags incorporating prominent shells and a oriental pheasant with a small vignette of a sailing boat bottom centre.
Blue printed floral cartouche backstamp, with Oriental Shells within and the initials H M J beneath.
The gadroon rim, as often, is worn, rubbed and discoloured in places. The glaze is sound.
