It may be a little fanciful to imagine this was for gooseberries but it is made to be robust and has an indented neck for securing a covering. Clearly designed for storing or preserving a fruit or vegetable.
Backstamp Ashworth Bros Hanley and inscribed in the clay Ashworth 1914
A little minor discolouration underneath otherwise excellent condition.
Dimensions: 15.5 cm high / 6 ins high
