Maker: Jones George  Pattern: Abbey

This is shape AB48 in the George Jones catalogue, where several nappies in sizes are listed and the largest is 13ins diameter. This example at 14.5ins diameter is significantly larger and these bowls are rare in this size. The bowls are decorated on the inside only and the quality of the print is excellent, in a good bold blue. There are two areas of restoration on the outside, one of a rim chip and the other of a hairline that runs down from the rim. This hairline is visible on the face, once you know it is there. The glaze is lightly crazed, but overall the condition is good and it looks fine on display, either flat or standing.
