Maker: Minton Pattern: Watteau grey
Inspired by the romantic art of the French rococo artist Jean-Antoine Watteau (1684-1721), this is one of twelve different scenes in this series, which was given the factory pattern number 12, thus it is one of the first Minton pictorial tile series. Introduced about 1845 it was still in production in 1885, so precise dating of individual tiles can be problematic.
Backstamp: embossed Mintons China Works Stoke on Trent Made in England.
Crazed with some pitting to two of the rims and one corner. There is a little damage to one of the sides and some cement still attached here and there but overall excellent condition
