Maker: Spode Pattern: Indian Sporting Series
Spode's famous Indian Sporting Series, here in their very own early 20th Century reproduction. This scene is known more fully as Syces or grooms leading out horses.
This plate has a pierced arcaded rim and inner basket weave border. The glaze is crazed and has taken up a little light staining, but there is no damage, which is unusual in these finely made plates. One of those pieces that looks fine on display.
Blue printed Copeland late Spode seal mark, impressed Spode Imperial mark ? and impressed date mark for May 1910.
