Rhine was originally a Davenport design introduced about 1833 and Spode bought the copper engravings in 1888 after Davenport ceased trading. The date Spode re-introduced the design is not known, but it was probably around 1900. The pattern name was changed to Severn from 1939 and reverted back to Rhine in 1947.
This is an absolutely lovely teapot with moulded body and pretty finial to the cover.

Two small glazing faults which have discoloured a little, one under the spout, the other to the inside rim. Overall excellent condition.
Dimensions: 0.9 ltr, overall height 16 cm / 1.5 pint, overall height 6.25 ins
