Ferrara is a port in northern Italy and Wedgwood had the design engraved in 1832 and produced it in various forms until the 1960s. The sailing ships by the way were copied from an engraving of Liverpool Docks, England.

Blue printed backstamp Ferrara, Etruria England, Wedgwood plus Wedgwood impressed and date mark for 1915.
