Maker: Pountney  Pattern: Bristol Views Series

Bristol Views Series, with various views along the River Avon, is the best known pattern from the Bristol Pottery of Pountney.
Clifton is now a suburb of Bristol, but in its day was fashionable for recreation and relaxation. Today it is more famous for its Gorge with suspension bridge.
Made first by Pountney and Allies this platter has the typical horse shoe shape backstamp impressed Pountney and Goldney. This partnership operated the pottery from 1836 to 1849.
There are a few minor glaze blemishes and knife marks, but this platter is as bright and clean as the day it was made. Lovely example from this popular series.
