Made by John Meir of Tunstall, active from 1812 and later John Meir & Son of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall.
Attractive English country scene of two boys fishing in river, with cows and water-mill beyond and mansion in distance.
Printed in fairly dark blue and lovely sense of perspective from the use of light and dark tones.
Backstamp is an impressed MEIR.
Some signs of use and a rub to the rim, but the glaze is sound and this whole plate is bright and clean. Lovely smaller plate in this popular pattern.
