Maker: Carey Pattern: Ancient Rome
Examples of this pattern have been found marked Carey & Sons for John Carey & Sons of Lane Delph and Longton, active 1818-1828, after which the sons Thomas & John continued in partnership until 1842.
Backstamp: blue printed octagonal frame containing the words Ancient Rome. Paper sticker for the Morley College Ceramic Circle Exhibition in 1974, when this plate was exhibit No. 5.
The glaze is finely crazed and a little wear to rim and foot rim, but really minor, as this is a lovely example.
