Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern: Wild Rose
One rarely finds sauce boats decorated with Wild Rose pattern, which depicts Nuneham Courtenay, Oxfordshire, the seat of the Earl Harcourt, set in grounds laid out by Capability Brown around 1780. This is a popular pattern and often found as here without a backstamp.
This boat has seen plenty of service and the glaze is crazed and stained from sauces and there are 2 or 3 minor hairlines running down from the rim. It looks its age.
Dimensions: 17 cm long / 6.75 ins long
