Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern: Asiatic Pheasants

Toilet wares are rarely found in Asiatic Pheasants, but here we have an attractive toilet basin. Deep, standing on a foot rim and rising up to an over spread rim. Sadly it has had a rather brutal life, resulting in two long and two short hairlines running down from the rim, which our ceramic conservator has professionally stabilised so they will not worsen. There are also three under rim chips. The glaze is finely crazed with some associated staining. What can we say? A historic piece, with a quiet dignity, which will appeal to those who like to see the scars of a life lived to the full.
