Maker: Ridgway  Pattern: Humphreys Clock

With gilt. This the full size not miniature style of this pattern. A fabulous teapot and stand with same scene either side of the body of the pot with Little Nell in the churchyard and ornate moulded detail to the spout and handle. All printed in a slightly steely blue. Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Charles Dickens' stories. They are taken from magazine illustrations in a magazine where Dickens' stories were first published. Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes and later a miniature toy range.

The lid and stand have light crazing and the gilt on the stand is worn, overall excellent condition
