Maker: Ridgway  Pattern: Humphreys Clock

Lovely two handled vase with ochre rim. The full size not miniature style of this pattern. Same scene either side of the vase with Little Nell in the churchyard. All printed in a slightly steely blue. Humphreys Clock is a series of views depicting scenes from Charles Dickens' stories. They are taken from illustrations in a magazine where Dickens' stories were first published. Ridgway & Co introduced a complete range of table and other wares in the 1840s, decorated with these scenes and later a miniature toy range.
