Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern: Neptune

This pattern shows Neptune riding across the waves in a chariot with Britannia. It has also been called the Victory pattern and The Apotheosis of Nelson, implying the deification of Nelson or his soul leaving this earthly life.
S B Williams suggested that the four heads in medallions in the border pattern represented famous Admirals, such as Nelson, Howe, Hood and Collingwood.
A decorative item, in excellent condition with just a tiny knock to one point. Bright and clean.
No maker's mark, but large impressed 3 in the underside.
