Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern: Neptune

An unusual design depicting Neptune and Amphitrite or possibly Britannia riding in a chariot with paddle wheels drawn by hippocampi and preceded by a triton. Putti blow a horn and ride a hippocampus. The border comprises medallions containing the busts of heroes: probably Nelson, Collingridge, Howe, Hood and/or Jervis and they are flanked by nereids and symbols including cannon, sailing ships, anchors, flags, swords, and shields. A version has been seen with the title Trafalgar, which suggests this was a commemorative design. It has also been titled The Apotheosis of Nelson and Victory, but is more commonly known as Neptune.
