Maker: Harvey  Pattern: Birds and Flowers

Originally one of the major components of a grand dessert service this attractive oval pierced basket, sits on a similarly pierced stand. Items in this design have been recorded marked with HARVEY impressed, although there is no maker's backstamp on either piece. There was a sequence of various Harvey partnerships at Longton, Staffordshire and this piece dates from the C & J Harvey period 1818-1827. Strong cobalt glaze giving overall a slightly grey look, with the design printed in vibrant blues. The glaze is finely crazed on both pieces with a small area of associated light staining on the underside of the basket. There is an under-rim chip under one handle of the basket, otherwise both in excellent condition.
