Maker: Harvey Pattern: Birds and Flowers
Originally one of the components of a grand dessert service this attractive two handled serving dish has a shallow foot rim. Items in this design have been recorded marked with HARVEY impressed, although there is no maker's backstamp on this dish. There was a sequence of various Harvey partnerships at Longton, Staffordshire and this piece dates from the C & J Harvey period 1818-1827. Strong cobalt glaze giving overall a slightly grey look, with the design printed in vibrant blues. Glaze is finely crazed and has taken up a little light staining. There are general signs of use and wear plus a couple of tiny under rim nicks with flakes off the foot rim. Overall bright and clean and look fine on display.
