Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1820

Riley Eastern Street Scene Meat Dish or Platter with tree and well c1820

Maker: Riley  Pattern: Eastern Street Scene

Stunning is the best way to describe this fabulous dish printed in a rich blue with tree and well feature. This is a given name for this charming scene, which was derived from two aquatints of Indian street scenes in T & W Daniell's Oriental Scenery. The Sacred Tree of the Hindoos at Gyah, Bahar provided the tree on the left and View on the Chitpore Road, Calcutta the buildings on the right.
No backstamp.
It is crazed and there is some rubbing and glaze loss to the outer rim at 1 & 2 o'clock. There are a couple of minor glazing blemishes to the face and on the back there are 2 old chips to the stand. Sounds much worse than it looks this is a wonderful dish.

Dimensions: 52 cm x 42.5 cm / 20.5 ins x 16.75 ins
