Side or Cheese Plate c1825

Unattributed Maker The Beemaster Side or Cheese Plate c1825

Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern: The Beemaster

The Beemaster remains one of the most sought after early designs. This delightful scene is derived from a watercolour Swarm of Bees, Autumn by George Robertson 1742-88, which hangs today in the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford. The maker of The Beemaster is yet to be identified, although Adams has been suggested.
In any early 19th Century design, the smaller side plates are rarer than dinner plates and this is a neat size.
No backstamp as usual.
The glaze is finely crazed with some light staining on the back, but the face is bright and clean.

Dimensions: 21 cm / 8.25 ins
