Maker: Adams  Pattern: Chinese Bird colour

This is a wonderful piece of Chinese Bird. An oval basket with two side handles and the lower half of the body pierced. Two vignettes of pattern on the inside rim, with full Chinese Bird vignette with added colour to the base. There is a hairline where one of the "diamonds" join the base otherwise superb condition.
Blue printed backstamp of scroll "This pattern is a reproduction of one introduced by William Adams in 1780 being a copy of a Chinese pattern greatly admired as one of the first of its style produced in English pottery". The registered number and Wm Adams signature are not present.
