Maker: Unattributed Maker Pattern: Willow blue with colour
One part of a cruet set, usually attributed to one of the potteries at Prestonpan in Scotland, but also produced elsewhere and later versions were made. This chappie is an original from the 19th Century and he has had a life!
He has a fixed tricorn hat and was made with a hole in his back for filling. There is a small chip to one corner of the hat. Some minor flaking to the paint on his jacket. His base has been in three bits and has been restuck. Part of one of his shoes was included in the breakage and resticking. There is a gap in the skirt of the base, towards the back, about ½ x ½ ins. On the right height shelf he could look almost perfect!
No maker's backstamp.
Dimensions: 14.5 cm high / 5.75 ins high
