Maker: Spode  Pattern: Caramanian Series

The scene inside is Citadel near Corinth and a made-up view on the outside of this rare piece in this classic Spode design. It is described in Drakard and Holdway as a circular footed comport or supper set centre piece, sometimes found with a cover, which the decorated interior of the bowl and rolled everted rim, render visually unecessary. A dragon head grab handle on each side.
Impressed Spode in upper and lower case and blue printed O.
There is some crazing to the glaze and a minor old chip under the foot. Gently proportioned this bowl displays beautifully.
